Programs/Events in 2022

Jackson Center School, built in 1870, is a living history museum and the home of the Historical Society. It is located at 7756 Fulton Drive NW, Massillon, Ohio 44646.

MEMORY LANE PROGRAM *April 14 (Thursday), 7 p.m.  Topic — Churches. Everything that JTHS knows about all the different churches that have been in the township with a photo, name of the church, location, and information pertaining to each one.

In 2015, when Jackson Township celebrated the 200th anniversary of its founding, the Jackson Township Historical Society compiled a “Pictorial History of Jackson Township.” That book has been reprinted, and copies on now available for purchase. Buy one for yourself or give it as a gift. The cost is $18 per book. NOTE: Due to the prohibitive cost of hard cover copies, the reprints are a soft cover. This program has been CANCELLED due to Covid Concerns (will be rescheduled) *January 23 (Sunday) 2 p.m.: The Jackson Fire Department will talk about fire safety.

The members meeting will still be held, at 2 p.m.

*February 6, (Sunday), 1 to 4 p.m.: Open House — Topic: Schools in Jackson. There will be displays, activities and a raffle. Come see some items that are rarely displayed. Volunteers are needed.
*February 20 (Sunday) 1 to 3 p.m.: McGuffey Kids Club — Celebrate George’s 290th birthday, sponsored by the Canton DAR. This program is for children in grades K-12 and registration is required (by February 11). Martha Washington is expected to attend the party.
*February 27 (Sunday), 2 p.m.: Todd Porter from the Jackson Schools will be the speaker. (Brief members meeting will follow the program.)
*March 6 (Sunday), 1 to 4 p.m.: Open House — Topic — Sports in Jackson. Come learn about the history of sports in Jackson Township. There will be activities for children of all ages. Volunteers are needed
*March 20 (Sunday), 1 to 3 p.m.: McGuffey Kids Club presents Hoo Do You Think You Are? This is a beginner genealogy program for children in grades K-12. The Stark County Genealogical Society will help present this program. The supply fee is $10 for nonmembers $7 for Kids Club members. Preregistration is required by March 7 because materials for each participant will need to be purchased.
